Bali Diving Guide

Bali offers some of the most diverse diving in the world, but conditions vary greatly between dive sites and seasons. While many visitors come expecting calm tropical diving everywhere, some locations around Bali require experience and proper briefing.

Nusa Penida is exposed to oceanic currents from the Lombok Strait. Currents can change direction during the dive and water temperatures may drop below 22°C during mola mola season. Divers should be comfortable descending and remaining calm in moving water.

Tulamben is very different. It is shore diving on volcanic rock with easy navigation, but entries can sometimes be physically demanding and surge may occur in shallow areas.

Padang Bai and Amed are generally more suitable for beginners due to calmer conditions and protected bays, making them ideal for first dives and training.

Choosing the right dive site is more important than choosing the most famous one. A good dive plan depends on experience level, conditions and season.
